For New Career Teachers:
Dear new career teachers,
Please see below for information about the...
Sooke School District New Teacher Mentoring Project
Are you new to the teaching profession? Are you looking for a collegial support network to share ideas and problem solve challenges? We invite you to join us as a mentee in the New Teacher Mentoring Project!
What is the New Teacher Mentoring Project?
This province-wide project is a partnership among the B.C. Teachers’ Federation, the BC Schools Superintendents Association, and the University of BC. The New Teacher Mentoring Project seeks to provide a coherent, research-based, and sustainable system of support for teachers new to our profession. Find out more at: http://mentoringbc.edcp.educ.ubc.ca
Locally, this project is a partnership between the SD62 Curriculum & Learning Team and the Sooke Teachers’ Association.
How does this opportunity benefit you as a new career teacher?
Sooke teachers, new to the teaching profession, will have the opportunity to work with one another and colleague mentors in a cohort model. This model entails having 2-3 mentors working with a group of mentees in which to develop reciprocal mentoring relationships as part of a continuum of teacher learning. In this way, new career teachers will have access to the support of both the mentors and their mentee colleagues in their cohort group. The goal is to support your needs and interests!
Mentees will participate in 3 sessions:
*Please note that funding for this project is limited. Therefore participation this year is not guaranteed.
The survey closes on Friday, Dec. 9
