Can I apply for Pro D leave to view another class/teacher in the district?
Yes, but you need to:
1 Ensure you have enough site based/ collective funds to pay for your TTOC.
2 Apply for Pro D leave (Click on Application Forms)
Can I use my Pro-D Funds to buy a laptop or other electronic hardware?
No. Our policy does not cover personal benefits,
If I move schools can I transfer my school based Pro-D money to my new school?
No. The funds are allocated to each school. Each school then chooses how this money will be spent.
Can I purchase books with my Pro-D money?
Yes. Professional books may be purchased using site based funds only and up to a maximum of $100 per year. Books that can be used as classroom resources are not eligible for this funding.
Can I receive Pro-D money to pay for a workshop/conference before it happens?
No. We can only issue refunds for an event after you have attended.
Can I receive Pro-D money if I go to a conference in the summer?
Yes. However, an activity that takes place after June 30 will be part of each member’s Pro-D allocation for the following year.
The funds for summer Pro-D will not be available until after September. Keep your receipts and in September, send in them in with your form.
I want to use my school based Pro-D Money and money from the Collective Fund. Do I have to fill in two separate forms?
No. Both funds are accessed with the same form, just indicate on the form how much money you want to use from each source.
Can I put on a workshop myself?
Yes. You (or a school or LSA) can choose to either find a Presenter or BE the Presenter! The easiest way to do this is to contact the committee about presenting at the next locally developed workshop. Other school/group options are available.
Can I use Pro-D Funds for University Tuition for credit and non-credit?
Yes, but only up to maximum $250 a school year. This includes all tax deductible training.
How much money can I apply for form the Collective Fund?
You may apply for up to a maximum of $400 a year on a first come first serve basis. (as of 2017-2018)
Do I need pre-approval for Alternative Events?
Yes, as of Nov 1 2017 all alternative events require pre-approval.
